KAPPA ALPHA THETA

One of the skills you need as a party chair and media director is perceptiveness. While the joke about sorority life is that everyone is the same, it’s the job of the media director to portray the uniqueness and variety of identities that exist within your house. And, it’s the role of the Party Chair to curate the vibe that each potential new member is perceiving as they walk through the door. You have to be able to capture the essence of hundreds of women through the seemingly overlooked choices of color palettes, textures, flowers, and fun elements.

I wanted to show the brightness, boldness, and intentionality I saw in each girl in my sorority through each of my artistic decisions.

I stepped into the role of media director wanting to find a happy spot between the two previous girls that had this role (I’ve portrayed their feeds on the left & mine on the right). I wanted to find a balance between the earthy/deep nature of the first with the bright/airy vibe of the second. So, I went to Lightroom and crafted Theta its own unique preset that brings a bright yet natural energy to the media.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about being charged with documenting the lives of the women in your sorority and marketing your sisterhood during recruitment. During my time in Theta I was the Media Director and Party Chair. As Media Director, I curated the sorority’s social channels and worked alongside the recruitment team to create unique and trending graphics. My role as the Party Chair for two consecutive years charged me with designing the decorations, outfits, and props during recruitment.

PARTY CHAIR

The party chair is tasked with implementing various creative design tasks in conjunction with the Executive Recruitment Board to craft a space that represents the sorority.

I was able to bring my Pinterest board visions to life, hand-picking out each piece that thoughtfully went into the process.
